Manchester United failed to move back into the top-four after being forced to settle for a point against Southampton at Old Trafford on Saturday lunchtime.
Despite taking the lead for the third game in succession through Jadon Sancho’s 21st minute effort, United, just as they were at Burnley on Tuesday evening, were pegged back immediately after the half time interval, following Che Adams’ cool finish.
The Saints, in truth, were the better side in the second half and had their fair share of opportunities to turn the contest on its head and secure a second consecutive away win.
United, however, did come closest to a winner, with Saints goalkeeper Fraser Forster producing a stunning save to thwart Harry Maguire in injury time.
Ultimately, however, it was not enough, meaning United have now failed to win any of their last three matches in all competitions, despite taking the lead in all of them.
With the same problem continuing to trouble Ralf Rangnick’s side, United’s supporters have expressed their concerns in the aftermath of the full-time whistle being blown.
