23 out of the 30 Invited Super Eagles players to prosecute the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers slated for Qatar next summer are already in camp, gearing up for the crucial encounter with Liberia and Cape Verde.
The match against Liberia is at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Surulere, Lagos, Nigeria on Friday, September 3rd, then face a trip to the island nation of Cape Verde, where they tackle the Blue Sharks on Tuesday, September 7th.
As expected, the invited players have been sweating it out to get the maximum point.
The players already in camp are; Daniel Akpeyi, Francis Uzoho, Maduka Okoye, Jamilu Collins, Shehu Abdullahi, Kenneth Omeruo, Adekunle Adeleke, Valentine Ozornwafor.
Others are; Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Chidera Ejuke, Oghenekaro Etebor, Innocent Bonke, Kingsley Michael , Ahmed Musa, Kelechi Iheanacho, Samuel Kalu, Henry Onyekuru, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon.
The duo of Rangers Football Club of Scotland midfielder,Joe Aribo and Genk Football Club of Belgium talisman, Paul Onuachu got camp in the early hours of today Tuesday 31st August, 2021.
Ahmed Musa, the Super Eagles Captain, is optimistic that the team will record victory against their opponents.
“The atmosphere in camp is superb. The energy and the enthusiasm for victory is encouraging and we are sure of victory”.
In the same vein, Leicester City of England striker, Kelechi Iheanacho have promised to reciprocate his form and scoring prowess at Club level to the national team.
“We are ready for the task ahead and we are sure of victory. The unity and determination among the players is key and we want our teeming fans to rally round us and we are sure getting the needed victory”.
The likes of William Troost Ekong, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, Oghenekaro Etebo, Kenneth Omeruo and Joe Arinola would not be available for the Tuesday match against the Blue Sharks of Cape Verde due to the COVID-19 and the country is one of the country’s on Red Alert by the United Kingdom and Spain due to the high case of Covid-19 pandemic.
The said players would only be available for the Friday Match against Liberia in Lagos, and would return back to their respective base in Europe.
Coach Gernot Rohr said he will take each matches as it comes, stressing that all hands are on the deck for a successful outing.
He added that the players invited are the best legs the nation have gotten in its stock to prosecute such important match.
He is however optimistic of victory.
