• Inter Milan star Andre Onana has been dropped from Cameroon’s squad for their all-important tie against Serbia at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar
  • The 26-year-old goalkeeper is not even included among the substitutes for the Indomitable Lions’ second Group G outing at the Mundial
  • Devis Epassy has been since drafted into the starting line-up as Cameroon seek to avert the unwanted winless run at the tournament

Cameroon shot-stopper Andre Onana has been removed from his side’s squad to face Serbia in their second group game.

Onana was an absolute wall for the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon throughout their qualifiers for the tournament in Qatar, and continued in a similar fashion in their opening game against Switzerland.

Despite his heroics between the sticks, it proved insignificant as Cameroon were pipped by a solitary Breel Embolo strike in the second half.

He was expected to man the post for his side’s must-win tie against Serbia. However, he has instead been axed from the Cameroon team.

According to Fabrizio Romano, the Inter Milangoalkeeper held a tense discussion with head coach Rigobert Song, who insisted on a different style of goalkeeping which was more ‘traditional’.

Per the reports, Onana had no intention to change his style, hence his axing the squad to face Serbia, GOAL explains.

Sports Brief had reported that Inter Milan and Cameroon goalkeeper Onana had been praisedby fellow Serie A goalkeeper Vanja Milinkovic-Savic, as being better than his predecessor in Italy.

The kind words from his opponent came ahead of the early fixture pitting Serbia against Cameroon, with both teams chasing their first points after losing opening matches.
