First son of the late Pastor Taiwo Odukoya, Jimi, has been announced as senior pastor of the Fountain of Life Church, Ilupeju, Lagos, while his sister, Tolu Odukoya-Ijogun, is the new associate pastor.
This development was announced, yesterday, during church service by a member of the Church’s Board of Trustees, who said the late cleric confirmed the succession plan to three different people on the board before his passing.
Jimi, Nollywood actor, got his education at the Oral Roberts University, United States.
The succession has received the blessing of the Church’s BoT and Odukoya’s spiritual mentor, Bishop Mike Okonkwo and the ordination would formally take place on September 30.
Addressing the congregation, one of the pastors, Rotimi Okpaise, said the late Odukoya confided in the Board of Trustees (BoT) members about the succession plan after his demise.
“Bishop Mike Okonkwo called on the BoT last week on the succession plan and it was confirmed to him that Pastor Taiwo left a word on the succession plan before he departed.
“Pastor Taiwo before his death left words with three individuals who are trustees of the Church. Pastor Jimmy also said Pastor Taiwo told him to carry on with the mantle after his departure. Subsequently, a board meeting was summoned and we decided to follow the constitution.
“Pastor Jimi was nominated and he was unanimously voted for by all BoT members. With this, Pastor Jimi Odukoya is now our Senior Pastor.”
The senior Odukoya died on August 7 in the United States of America and was buried on September 9.
