The Governorship Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu has led a protest to the INEC headquarters in Ogun state while protesting against the result of the election that got Dapo Abiodun re-elected as Ogun State governor. Ladi Adebutu argued that the INEC should do the need by allowing a re-run to take place in the state. He alleged that there were illegal votes of about 10,000 being given to the All Progressive Congress.
He stated that they have gotten this facts even before making a forensic analysis with the usage of the BVAS. He lamented over the fact that the letters in which they had submitted to INEC had gotten no response. He, therefore, stated that the Military has impeded them from having access to the INEC headquarters in the state. According to him, the military men were shooting in the air during their protest to the INEC office. He implored that the Ogun State Government should avoid bloodshed and allow them to exercise their right.
He said, ”Our people are peacefully protesting but unfortunately we have been confronted by the Nigerian Army. They are shooting sporadically with the hope that they will disperse us. But we are resolute, we are going to stay here until we are addressed by the official of INEC. And our contention is that the measures by which other states have been treated, Ogun state should be measured in the same vein.
Adamawa has run-off, Kebbi has run-off. Why is Ogun State being denied run-off? We are not concerned about whatever interest is guiding this, we are only asking for our rights. We have submitted several letters protesting this decisions and we are asking that this gentleman should allow us access to INEC. But unfortunately, they are stopping us from assessing INEC.
The military is shooting in the air with the hope of sending us away. But we are not going to be scared because this is our fundamental human right. We are begging, we don’t want another End Sars, we don’t want another bloodshed in Ogun state. We are begging them to allow us to protest in peace.”
