As the Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government prepares to handover to a new administration in less than 28 days from now, a mild drama has ensued between veteran journalist and presidential aide, Femi Adesina, and popular ARISE NEWS anchor, Rufai Oseni.

Adesina, who is the Special Adviser to Buhari on Media and Publicity, was a guest on ARISE TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Tuesday, to discuss the achievements of the President in the past 8 years of being in charge of the country’s affairs.

However, a few minutes into the interview, Rufai, who has built quite a reputation for being feisty with his questions, asked Adesina to explain why the power generation deal that was supposedly struck by the Buhari administration and German engineering company, Siemens, was yet to produce results as promised by the government, more than 8 months after heavy-duty equipment was reported to have arrived in Nigeria. The presenter then went on to describe the deal as a ‘failed project’.

Quite interestingly, Rufai’s comments did not go down well with Mr. Adesina, and the presidential aide did not hesitate to tackle the presenter by accusing him of cynicism and skepticism.

He said; “Well, Rufai, I think you are particularly cynical and skeptical in all your dealings. To call the Siemens deal a failed project does not make sense. It is a deal between two countries that is ongoing. The fact that one government could not achieve something does not mean it has failed. government is a continuum.

You have to let me make my point. You asked me to come here so that we can engage. But if you will not let me make my point, that engagement will not work.”
