The All Progressives Congress, APC, Lagos Chapter, is devastated, mourning and in melancholy mood following yet another death Of a Female Lawmaker in Shomolu Local Government Area, in person of Basirat Mayabikan.

 

Mayabikan was a Councillor representing Ward F in Shomolu LGA.

 

The death of Mayabikan is coming days after Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Oluremi Ajose Nutayi passed on.

 

Nutayi is the daughter of Oyekan Possi Ajose, the Alapa of Apa Egun-Awori Kingdom.

 

The death of Mayabikan makes it Four deaths for the APC less than Two Months after they were inaugurated into their respective political positions.

 

First was Councillor for Ward C1 in Ibeju-Lekki LGA, Oluwakemi Rufai, followed by Councillor for Ward C3 in Odi-Olowo/Ojuwoye LCDA, Zainab Shotayo; Vice Chairman of Badagry West LCDA, Oluremi Ajose; and Councillor for Ward F in Shomolu LGA, Basirat Mayabikan, who all died in succession.

 

Shotayo, one of the youngest councillors in the State, and the sole Woman in her Council, passed away following a brief illness.

 

Though, opinion differs on the death of the Four elected political officers, but some section of Nigerians are of the opinion alleging hat they were killed through fetish means due to envy and jealousy from their political rivals within the Party.

 

Reacting to the allegation of the Four Women been killed through diabolical means, Hon. Oluseye Oladejo, spokesperson for the APC have described the demise of the Four Women as unfortunate, adding that insinuations of foul play would be disrespectful to the memories of the deceased.

 

In an interview with TheCable, Oladejo said, “As much as the situation is most unfortunate, it smacks of disrespect to the memories of the departed to insinuate anything untoward.

 

“All of them happen to be from different Local Governments and Local Council Development Areas. So it can’t be pinned down to any internal crisis.

 

“We should allow the families, friends, party and well-wishers to mourn them in peace, there’s absolutely nothing to investigate”, Oladejo stated.
