The Lagos police and the Neigbourhood Watch have been asked to investigate if there are links between the killings of three people in Lagos by unknown gunmen and the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB

Around 11 35 pm on Wednesday, unknown gun men shot three people in the Gowon Estate Area of Lagos.

Two of them died while one Ngoze, survived. The two that were killed were later taken to Igando General Hospital.

In a statement on Thursday, Apapo Oodua Koya, (AOKOYA) the Yoruba self determination group said the police needed to investigate if there is any link between the gory incidence and Indigenous Peoples of Biafra,(IPOB)

In the statement signed by Col Abimbola Sowumi AOKOYA said the killing by unknown gun men in the dark hours in Lagos has raised fresh concerns about security of lives and property in the entire Western Region

The group said “We have been told by prominent Igbo and some IPOB leaders that they would invade Lagos with arms. Simon Ekpa said he would order IPOB Eastern Nigeria Security Network, ENSN to invade Lagos. Its less than two weeks and three people were shot dead by unknown gun men. This is curious. People have been shot in Lagos but in rare circumstances. But this particular pattern raises a lot of concern about IPOB activities” Sowunmi said.

AOKOYA asked Yoruba to show “Intelligence, scientific planning and diligence” and should avoid being drawn into violent ethnic conflict which is what IPOP wants in order to destabilise Western Region and pave way for IPOB’s reckless and tackless approach to Igbo self determination.

The group said the current Yoruba political leadership is essentially naive and cannot distinguish between short, middle and long term interests of the Yoruba people adding that many of them are so short sighted thinking the victory of Bola Tinubu has resolved all the landmines laid across the country.

AOKOYA said the idea that Yorubaland is the most peaceful has its strength and weaknesses for it also means “Yorubaland is weak and can easily be attacked” in the violent scramble for Nigeria.

“We have asked our intelligence operatives to visit the area and sniff around for the cause and the motive of the attackers. Our investigations are ongoing and the Yoruba people will be informed if there is any strong proof that the attacks are part of the plot to destabilise Yoruba Nation” AOKOYA said.

“Some of our operatives in Igando area alerted our Lagos commander around 4.30am. That was five hours after the incidence. It will be necessary to know the motive, the kinds of weapons used. One thing is certain, this is very strange to the culture of Lagos. The style of the attacks is the signal of IPOB. It indicated clearly the signpost of developments in the South East states. Any rational human being should be curious coming on the heels of IPOB threats to invade Lagos and cause mayhem eventhough we know the callous Yoruba politicians would dismiss this as nothing to worry about.
