FC Barcelona engaged in a friendly match with Manchester City last night in what might be the final Barcelona game for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who has been heavily linked to leaving the club this summer. The Gabonese gave a gesture to the fans when he was being substituted in the second half which might be his final goodbye.
Most football players love to keep calm about situations, especially about their possible transfers until it became official and that was the same thing Aubameyang did the last night as he only gave little sign that he might leave Barcelona.
The ex-Arsenal forward started the game alongside Ferran Torres to the left and Raphinha to the right in the attack. Barcelona fell short as Julian Alvarez gave Man City the lead in the 21st minute. Aubameyang replied eight minutes later with an equalizer from the tight area.
De Jong gave Barcelona the lead in the second half as Cole Palmer brought City level. Memphis Depay put Barcelona in front again before Mahrez’s penalty at the stoppage time ensured the game’s final score to be 3-3.
However, in the 57th minute, while Aubameyang was leaving the pitch to be replaced by Memphis Depay, he waved to Barcelona fans at Camp Nou which might be his final goodbye as Chelsea is reportedly on the verge of reaching an agreement with Barcelona concerning his signing.
He only arrived in Barcelona last season and has had a brilliant performance. He scored 20 goals and provided 3 assists in 38 games last season. Nevertheless, he will be happy that he once played for Barcelona in his career if he eventually joins Chelsea this summer.
