Super Eagles of Nigeria star Taiwo Awoniyi was exceptional for recently promoted English Premier League club-side Nottingham Forest football club on Tuesday, as they defeated Burton FC 1-0 in a preseason friendly match.
The former Liverpool football club star completed a club record fee move to Nottingham Forest football club few weeks ago, and he has started the preseason with the club.
Taiwo Awoniyi was given a starting role in his team’s attack by his coach, and he was able to contribute his quota to the team’s victory.
Both teams efforts to score in the first half of the game were not successful, as the first half ended goalless draw.
England star Steve Cook opened scoring for Nottingham Forest football club in the 57th minute after a fine teamwork from Nigerian Taiwo Awoniyi and Cafu to end the match 1-0.
Taiwo Awoniyi was fantastic for the Reds in the game, but all his efforts to score were denied by Burton FC goalkeeper Ben Garratt.
The Nigerian international will now be looking forward to scoring his first goal for the club when they play their next game in few days time.
