Many football fans were shocked, as some top European countries fails to qualify for the round of 16. Countries like Denmark, Belgium, and Uruguay are included in the country that didn’t make it to next round.
However, some managers have tendered their resignation letter after failing to qualify their countries to the next round;
Roberto Martinez confirmed that he has resigned as Belgium manager after a shock FIFA World Cup group stage exit on Thursday. The news of his resignation from the Belgium team has triggered lots of reactions and many pundits and sport channels are reacting to it.
In his post-match press conference, Martinez said, “That was my last game with the national team, I can’t carry on,” it’s the time for me to accept that this is the last game.”
• Roberto Martinez is not the only coach that resigned after failing to qualify his team for the next round, as Mexico coach, Gerardo “Tata” Martino, also did the same.
The coach of the Mexico men’s national team announced his resignation shortly after his team was eliminated in the group stage of the 2022 World Cup.
After his last game with Saudi Arabia, he said, “I am the first responsible for this terrible disappointment and frustration that we have.”
