The governor of the central bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has reacted to the series of protests held by some individuals in certain states over the scarcity of the new Naira notes.
Godwin Emefiele who spoke to the media on Friday, according to Daily Trust News first warned those carrying out these protests to refrain from allowing themselves to be used negatively, as they are working tirelessly as bankers to ensure everything works as planned.
The governor of the Apex bank who assured these protesters and all Nigerians to see this policy as a positive note, urged them to be patient and understand with them, while adding that they should diligently join the queues at the various banks and ATM spots in the country to get access to their cash.
Speaking further, he revealed that they should not jeopardize the policy, as it is not targeted at anyone, but rather for the country’s economic benefits.
In his words…”We are doing our work. We are bankers. Those holding protest should not allow themselves to be used”
One will not be wrong to point out that there have inarguable been protests in states like Oyo and Delta where some Nigerians took to the street and express their anger over the scarcity of the currency, resulting into some destruction of properties.
