There is furore in the Rivers State Executive Council as the Attorney General of the State and Commissioner for Justice, Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor has resigned from the administration of his Excellency, Sir. Siminalayi Fubura, governor of Rivers States in order to preserve his reputation.
The serving Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Rivers State has been a member of the Rivers State Executive Council for the past five years until his deployment to the Ministry of Special Duties (Governor’s Office). The Government of Rivers state in a letter dated the 23rd of April, 2024 had informed Prof. Zacchaeus Adangor of his deployment to the Ministry of Special Duties.
Prof. Adangor in his response dated the 24th day of April, 2024 addressed to Dr. Tammy Wenike Danagogo, Secretary to the Rivers State Government rejected the said deployment and tendered his resignation. He further noted that he was no longer willing to continue to serve in the administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalay Fubura in any capacity whatsoever.
Prof. Adangor expressed his dissatisfaction with his deployment from the Ministry of Justice citing that this deployment was a witch hunt for defending, opposing and appearing in suits instituted against the Honourable Attorney-General and the Government of Rivers State by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the Government of Rivers State.
