Super Eagles of Nigeria prolific and versatile dazzler, Kelechi Iheanacho was superb and fantastic today for English Premier League giant Leicester City in a club friendly against Derby County which was their sixth game in the pre-season tour and as such placed them on a four-game unbeaten streaks, after their first two games ended in a 2-1 disappointing defeat and three all draw scoreline respectively.
The Nigerian international made his return back into the team and he was given a role to play in the starting XI line-up after he was left out of the squad in their previous game due to a minor injury that kept him out of action.
He was able to make a solid return by announcing his arrival with a goal which was the opening goal of the game that inspired the Foxes to the comfortable victory that put them on the right track and in the right shape into the new campaign.
The first half of the game hanged on the balance as there was nothing to separate the two sides going into the half time break which ended goalless draw.
The Brendan Rodgers’ side in the second half were able to turn the fortune of the game around as they stepped up their game with some more dazzling displays and as such opened the scoring sheet in the 55th minute with a goal from Kelechi Iheanacho to make it one nil, before the host got levelled with an equalizer in the 65th minute with a goal from Tom Barkhuizen to make it 1-1.
Patson Daka was able to double the lead in the 79th minute for the visitor to make it two goals to one before Callum Wright got the lead extended for his side in the 87th minute to make it three goals to one at full time.
Kelechi Iheanacho with his incredible performance in the game will be hoping to keep the tempo and momentum going for his side in their next game as they continue their pursuit ahead of the new season.
