Retirees of the Kaduna State College of Edictation has urged Governor Uba Sani to wade into the issue of non payment of their gratuities and pensions.
The Retirees who belong to an association has lamented the failure of the Kaduna State Government to pay their entitlement, hereby appealing to the Executive Governor of the State to give them audience to enable them state their plights.
The Pensioners lamented that they have been denied their entitlements for the past Seven Years, urging the Governor to proffer a solution to the lingering hardship they have been exposed to over the years.
The appeal was contained in a communiqué jointly signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Association, Bulus Kajang, and Emmanuel Nkom, respectively, in Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area of the State.
It was stated in the communique that a letter had been written to the Governor in July to intimate him about how prompt benefits were paid to retirees and how the unwarranted delay in the remittance of our entitlements has exposed the Retirees to untold hardship, after giving their most productive years in service.
“Most of our members cannot meet their basic needs, such as medical or utility bills, or pay their children’s school fees, adding that they best fit the description of vulnerable persons, and appealed that government’s palliatives should be provided for them too.
“The country’s dire economic situation was taking its toll on even those with means of income, and added that it is worse on the retirees who have nothing to fall back on, and begged the Governor to authorise payment of the long overdue entitlements,” the group pleaded.
