The Lagos State Government through its environmental  agency, Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency, LASEPA, has reiterated its commitment in making the State a serene atmosphere, devoid of unnecessary Noise Pollution, as it has wielded the big stick by sealing some Churches, Hotels and Bars.
LASEPA swung into action and sealed Churches, Hotels, Bars and other establishments in the following areas; Ifako-Ijaiye, Abesan Estate, Abule-Egba, Alagbado, Command, and Dopemu of the state.
The affected facilities are the Catholic Church, 1602 Hotel, Seventh Heaven Bar & Lounge, Lourita Hotel & Suites, God’s Porch Ministries, and Wonderful Bible Prayer Ministries.

Others include White Pavilion Hotel, Quest Hotel & Suites, Excel Hotel & Suite, and HoneyComb Confectionery Limited.

Speaking on his X Handle (formerly Twitter), the Commissioner of Environment, Tokunbo Wahab, made the disclosure as regards LASEPA’s action, stressing that the closures are deemed temporary and are aimed at enforcing compliance with environmental regulations.

LASEPA, therefore, stressed the need for businesses to adhere to environmental standards to avoid sanction, explaining that the closure was part of the ongoing clampdown against noise pollution in the state.

Noise Pollution is prohibited and unacceptable in the State as several hotels, event places, bars, clubhouse, churches and other worship centers have been shut previously due to excessive noise pollution, It is however instructive to know that the standard approved noise level in residential areas shall not exceed 55 decibels during the day and 45 decibels at night.
