David De Gea’s saves have been astonishing this season. You could watch a twenty minutes video of his saves in all competitions. To be precise, this is his best season so far at Manchester United. The club would have been far down the league without DDG.

Luis Enrique not picking De Gea must have come as a surprise to many Manchester United fans. It’s quite understood that some would be angry and might see this as a biasness towards the player. I don’t think that is the case, De gea simply doesn’t suit Luis Enrique’s style of football. He’s a manager who appreciatesplaying from the back and it so much requires the goalkeeper contribution to attack even when being under pressure.

De Gea just kicking the ball outfield is not a modern-day goalkeeping attribute. He can’t use his feet and Luis Enrique had to stick with Unai Simon and Robert Sanchez. These two goalies have more understanding of how to play the ball from the back.
