Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been excused from taking part in the forthcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup African Qualifiers Playoff between Nigeria and The Black Stars of Ghana.
According to official statement from the Nigeria Football Federation, Okoye was dropped due to illness. He has been replaced by John Nobles for the crucial encounters.
Nigeria will clash with the Black Stars of Ghana at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi on Friday. The second leg is expected to hold on 29th of March at the Moshood Abiola Stadium turf.
The winner of the double encounters will automatically qualify to represent Africa at the 2022 FIFA World Cup tournament in Qatar.
In a related development, Samuel Chukwueze has become the latest player to arrive camp. His arrival means there are 20 players presently in camp.
