Super Eagles of Nigeria goalkeeper Maduka Okoye was on action for recently relegated Watford football club of England, as they forced Panathinaikos FC to a hard-fought goalless draw in a preseason friendly match.
The former Fortuna Dusseldorf football club of Germany shot stopper had a remarkable 2021/2022 season for Netherlands Eredivisie League side Sparta Rotterdam football club, and his brilliancy helped the club to escape relegation to the second Division.
The 22 years old’s excellent performance in the Dutch League made Watford football club of England to sign the Nigerian last winter transfer window, and he has finally joined the club ahead of the upcoming 2022/2023 English Championship.
The Nigerian international made his debut for the club last weekend in a preseason friendly match against Cambridge United football club, as they suffered a shock 3-1 defeat, but he was able to perform excellently today.
Okoye started the game from the bench, and he was able to perform excellently after replacing Austria national team goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann in the 46th minute.
Panathinaikos FC tried to score in the second half of the game, but Maduka Okoye was fantastic, as he made two incredible saves to deny then.
The youngster will now be looking forward to building on his impressive display when Watford football club play their next game.
