Chidubem Bernard, a soccer fan said the approach of the Super Eagles to the match h was unpalatable, faulting the starting line up of the Super Eagles which had Alex Iwobi playing in the flank, alongside Moses Simon, who was in the first half sustained a out of season injury, with Kelechi Iheanacho leading the attack.
Bernard said Coach George should have started the same team that played the Black Stars of Ghana, with the same mentality and approach.
“He started the game against Mali with a 3-4-3 formation, unlike in the match against Ghana that he used a 3-5-2 formation before switching to a 4-3-3.
“The Malians dominated the game and Cyril Dessers squandered lot of chances, the Coach should have used Sadiq Umar since Dessers wasn’t performing”, he said.
For Toluwalase Idris, a soccer analyst, he applauded Coach George and praised the players for their display, comportment and dictating play on the field, stressing that the confidence of the players in dictating play was impressive.
“We may have lost against Mali, but the Super Eagles players gave a good account of themselves. For a very long time, we haven’t used wing play, and we played on the ground, passing accurately and confidently.
“If we keep this team and continue playing like this, it is certain that we have a bright future”, Idris said.
