The UEFA Champions League is the biggest club tournament in the world, it is meant for only the top-performing clubs in Europe, and it is a dream for any professional footballer to play in the tournament. The playoffs for the 2022/2023 season is on and a Super Eagles striker registered his first goal in the elite tournament.

 

 

Sunday Adetunji plays for KF Shkupi in the Macedonian league, he scored 20 goals last season to help the club win their first league title and he, in return, won the Golden Boot. Their triumph in the league made them qualify for the Champions League playoffs.

Sunday travelled to the United States of America for his holiday, and he came back prepared. In a preseason friendly with Fenerbahçe, he bagged two goals against the Turkish giants and followed it up with a goal on his Champions League debut against Lincoln Red Imps FC.

Mamadou Danfa opened the scoring in the 11th minute, before Walid Hamidi set up Sunday for the second goal. It was a beautiful goal as Sunday scored a long range trivela by using inside his foot to send the ball to the top corner and made the goalkeeper look helpless.

 

 

Scott Wiseman scored an own goal and the game ended 3-0 in favor of the home side. Sunday posted the video of his goal on his Instagram page and dedicated it to his fans who stood by him consistently.
