Otunba Segun Showunmi, a stalwart in Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has suddenly become the ‘Beautiful Bride’, among political parties in Ogun State, as he is been wooed with the Governorship Ticket of the Action Democratic Party, ADP and the Labour Party, LP, in the State.

 

Showunmi, one of the strong politicians in the PDP in Ogun State, and was once a Governorship Aspirant the Party at the 2019 Election in the State and had stated his intention to Govern the State one day.

 

The ADP and LP has however provided him a platform in making his vision come to reality.

 

In Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital, political leaders of ADP, across the Twenty Local Government Areas in Ogun State unanimously endorsed Otunba Showunmi to come and contest as its Governorship Candidate of the ADP in Ogun State.

 

The development came barely Two Weeks that the Labour Party, LP, endorsed him into their Party with the Governorship ticket.

 

The State Chairman of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Amb. Erelu Funke Olanrewaju said she led other leaders of the Party to the Otunba Segun Showunmi’s home to solicit and welcome him into their Party, ADP, though presently they have two contestants on ground for now but they prefer to go for him to win the ticket come 2027 under ADP.

 

She described Showunmi as the voice of the people and best man for the job adding that he strongly believe that he could turn the state around positively and if he become the Governor of this State come 2027, everything will be fine

 

The ADP leaders spoke unanimously that Otunba Showunmi has everything to occupy the seat come 2027.

 

They expressed optimism that having Otunba Segun Showunmi as the Action Democratic Party (ADP) governorship candidate would make Ogun a great State.

 

In his response, Showunmi thanked ADP’s ideological stability commended High Chief Alani Bankole for galvanising the party’s growing popularity in the State and the nation in general.

 

He praised the Action Democratic Party (ADP) for the opportunity to contest the governorship under their platform and pledged to consider the offer seriously and expressed his commitment to improving Ogun State, leveraging its growth potential and addressing pressing issues.

 

He said no nation can thrive in democracy without opposition, that he had been extremely stable and completely committed and unapologetic PDP member since 1998. He said he has Support both former and present leaders to lead Ogun State and this is his own time to govern the gateway State.

 

“I have heard your request to come and contest for the Governorship position under your platform, well all I could say is to thank you and by the grace of Almighty God, I will consider it seriously”, said Showunmi.

 

Speaking on his rumored defection from the PDP, Showunmi responded saying he has received an “offer” from both Political Party leaders, who urged him to consider the idea of replacing incumbent Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
