Super Eagles of Nigeria new boy, Raphael Onyedika was in action yesterday for Belgian Pro-League giant Club Brugge in their 12th league game of the season away from home against Anderlecht at the Lotto Park.
The 21 year old midfield maestro and former FC Midtyjlland star retained his spot in his team’s starting XI line-up having been a key figure in the squad since his summer arrival at the club and he was able to deliver yet at the peak in the whole 90 minutes duration of the game.
Raphael Onyedika in the game was clinical at the heart of the centre-field where he played more of the defensive role thereby cleared some dangerous balls to deny the host some clear cut chances that could have been converted into goals, which was instrumental in the hard-fought win complemented with a clean sheet.
The first half of the game was such a balanced one between the two sides as there was nothing to separate them going into the half time break which ended goalless draw before the visitor turned the fortune around in the second half.
The tempo of the game in the second half got more intensed as they both put up some more physical, tactical and technical displays but none was able to break the deadlock until the 69th minute when Casper Nielsen gave the visitor the lead to make it one nil which was also the final scoreline at full time.
Raphael Onyedika with his impactful contributions in the keenly contested encounter will be hoping to keep the standard going for his team in their next game as they continue their pursuit in the competition.
