In-form Nigerian goal machine Victor Osimhen will receive an extra €130,000 (N64m) bonus pay cheque for bagging 25 goals this campaign, the number of goals that enables him to initiate the second economic reward in his contract with Napoli.
The 24-year-old striker scored a brace for the Italian league leader in their 4-0 victory at Torino on match-day 27 of their Italian Serie A game last Sunday.
The Nigerian-born lethal goalscorer opened the goal riot in the ninth minute, before going on to score his second goal six minutes into the second half to increase his numbers to 25 goals in all competitions, matching the most goals scored by an African player in a single Italian Serie A campaign, held by the Cameroon legend, Samuel Eto’o.
The former Lille attacker also scored a brace in the UEFA Champions League win over German side, Frankfurt last Wednesday to take his goals record to 23 goals in all competitions this campaign, before scoring twice on Sunday to increase the tally to 25 goals.
The Nigerian International has enjoyed an incredible 2022/23 campaign and in February he grabbed his first goals compensation of €130,000 bonus (N64m) after reaching the 20-goal level when he scored in Napoli’s 2-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 first leg.
Now, Victor Osimhen is poised to receive an extra €130,000 (N64m) from Aurelio De Laurentiis, the Napoli president as agreed in his contract.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the lethal goal scorer whose goals have been decisive for Napoli is pushing Gli Azzurriare, who are 19 points ahead of second-place Lazio in the Italian Serie A table, to win their first Italian Seria A League title since 1990.
With Osimhen’s goals scoring from this campaign, he could also be given an additional N64m if he scores 30 goals.
“Specifically, the Napoli President, Aurelio De Laurentiis will have to pay the striker €130,000 but it doesn’t end there. The Nigerian has reached the number of goals scored by football legend Samuel Eto’o in Serie A and is then also preparing to be the greatest African scorer in Italy’s top division.”
Victor Osimhen has taken Italian Seria A and Europe by storm to become one of the most prolific lethal strikers in Europe.
