In the wake of Seyi Makinde’s emergence as the winner of the just-concluded governorship election in Oyo State over the weekend, reactions have begun trailing a social media post made by the former education minister, Madam Oby Ezekwesili on the victory.

Recall that after votes were cast in the guber elections on Saturday, March 18, 2023, Makinde, who is the incumbent, was adjudged to have polled a total of 563,756 votes to defeat his closest rival, Teslim Folarin of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who garnered 256,685 votes on the ballots.

Taking to her verified Twitter handle a few hours ago, Ezekwisili reacted to Makinde’s victory by expressing her pleasure at how peaceful the elections in Oyo were and how the people came together to unanimously give the governor a second term in office.

Going further, the former education minister argued that despite how Ibadan has been a home for different tribes over the decades, there were no reports of ethnic divisions or tribe-related violence during the polls.

As expected, Madam Ezekwisili’s tweets have drawn the attention of Nigerians online with many trooping to the comments section to share their thoughts.

While some persons attributed Makinde’s victory to his stellar performance during his first term in office, others concurred with her on how peaceful the people of Oyo are.
