Africa’s Largest Television Network, Nigeria Television Authority, NTA, have put smiles on the faces of Soccer Loving Nigerians, as it has announced that it would be transmitting all the 52 African Cup of Nations, AFCON, matches Live, holding between January 13 and February 11 in Ivory Coast.

MultiChoice, owners of DSTV and GOTV had earlier dashed the hope of Nigerians following its disclosure that it failed to secure the Television Rights to show the Continental showpiece.

Multichoice, the parent company of DStv, said the upcoming African Cup of Nations tournament would not be broadcast on its sporting channel, SuperSport.

According to the company in a statement, SuperSport channels will not broadcast the continent’s biggest footballing event on its SuperSport channels “because the channel has not secured the rights to broadcast the tournament.”

This led to mixed reactions from subscribers who lamented that despite paying huge sum of money to subscribe they are been denied the rights to watch the coveted African showpiece.

NTA made this known on its X handle (former Twitter) after signing a Memorandum of Understanding, MOU, with Afro Sports.

It tweeted, “NTA signs Memorandum of Understanding with Afro Sports for transmission of 52 matches of Africa Cup Of Nations in Cote D’ivoire.”

With this development, it is a sigh of relief for soccer fans and enthusiasts as they would privileged to watch their darling Super Eagles jostle to win its fourth AFCON Tournament.

Nigeria is in Group A alongside, Host, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
