The Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio led Senate has removed Senator Ali Ndume as the Chief Whip of the Ninth Assembly, he has however been replaced by Senator Tahir Mungono.
Senator Ndume’s removal was in the offing, having openly criticized the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu led Federal Government.
Ndume had stated in an interview that the president was not in the picture of what is happening outside the Villa, alleging that the president has been fenced off and caged.
He had said in the interview that, “Nigerians are getting very angry. The government is not doing anything about the food scarcity and it needs to do something urgently. We don’t have food reserve. There is unavailability of food. Food crisis is the worst crisis that any nation can encounter. If we add that to security crisis, it will be severe,” he said
It would be recalled that Daily Trust Newspapers in one of its reportage alleged that Senators loyal to President Tinubu were planning to Senator Ndume for been vocal and had often time criticized the policies of President Tinubu.
Political observers are of the opinion that is removal was premeditated, following his recent outburst.
